Join us for a panel discussion with our Alpena County judges: Judge Tom LaCross, Circuit judge, children's Division Judge Mike Mack, chief circuit judge Judge Ted Johnson, district judge Judges Johnson, LaCross, and Mack will explain the responsibilities of the different courts, and answer questions from the audience
Friday, January 15, 2010	12pm	19th Hole Restaurant	Lunch and Conversation. NEW - a chance to have those conversations we never have time to finish at League meetings... join us for lunch once a month, and discuss whatever issues and devopments are on your mind. Give us feedback on programs, try out new ideas... enjoy good company!
Monday, February 8, 2010	12-2pm	Alpena Community College, 107 D	Most Important Issue - Program Planning for LWV US. Come and join us for lunch (available at the ACC cafeteria next door) and be ready for a discussion about the present health care system at noon. Marie Gilmet-Dully will lead us in a discussion of what issues we will recommend to the National League for study and emphasis in 2010-2012.

Monday, March 1, 2010-Friday, March 5, 2010	library hours	Alpena Co. Library 211 N 1st Ave Alpena, MI 49707	"We Can Do It" - Celebration of Women's History Month. We are partnering with the Alpena County Library to celebrate Women's History Month in our community. The film "We Can Do It" about the accomplishments of Michigan Women will be running continuously on the 2nd floor of the library.
Tuesday, March 9, 2010	12 noon	Alpena Co. Library, Stillion Conference Room	"Iron Jawed Angels" (Women's History Month Event). Story of the fight for voting rights for women is portrayed - bring a lunch if you like.
Monday, March 15, 2010	7 pm	Alpena Co. Library, Stillion Conference Room	"Women in the Arts" (Women's History Month Event). Presentation by Karen Magness-Eubank, Ph.D., writer and teacher.

Monday, May 3, 2010	7 pm	County Court House (large courtroom) 720 W. Chisholm St. Alpena, MI 49707	Law Day Forum. Law Day Program, presented in cooperation with the Alpena Bar Association. This program will be in the style of a League forum with audience members submitting questions for panelists on cards to be asked by moderator Janet Smoak. Panelists are: Karen Bennett (Small Business Law) Keith Wallace (Foreclosure Law) Ed Black (Prosecution) Joel Bauer (Family Law/Divorce) Jeff Mock (Family Law/Juvenile)
Thursday, May 6, 2010	7 pm	Green Township Hall 14621 M 32 West Lachine,	Proposal for Michigan Constitutional Convention. The League is invited to hear Tim Kuehnlein, ACC instructor, give a presentation to the Intergovernmental Council on the November Ballot issue--a proposal to convene a constitutional convention for the purpose of drafting a general revision of the state constitution. Monday, May 10, 2010	5:30 pm	Alpena Golf Club 1135 E. Golf Course Rd. Alpena, MI 49707	ANNUAL MEETING DINNER. Our speaker will be Doug McCombs, Director of the Department of Human Services and chairperson of the County Coordinating Council for Human Services. We will elect officers and approve a budget, which includes a $5 dues increase -see latest newsletter for more information.

A chance to have those conversations we never have time for at League meetings... join us for a "brown bag" picnic in Island Park, across from Alpena General Hospital. If it rains, bring your lunch to Vernie Nethercut's home instead.
Monday, June 21, 2010	1pm	19th Hole Restaurant	US Convention and Advocacy Training Reports. Janet Smoak will report on an Advocacy Training for League members she attended. Anne Nave has just returned from national convention in Atlanta, GA and will report on her experience at 1PM on Monday, June 21, at the 19th Hole Restaurant . PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF TIME!

Wednesday, July 21, 2010	7-9pm	Alpena Community College	Local Candidates Forum. Candidates for Alpena County Commissioner in districts with primary contests will answer questions from the audience; ballot proposals on the Aug. 3 ballot will be presented.
Tuesday, August 3, 2010	7am-8pm	your local precinct	Primary election. on the ballot: candidates for governer, US representative, MI representative and senator, county commissioner, local ballot proposal.
